Leicester Square London

Does anyone have any experience in buying half price theatre tickets at Leicester Square in London. If so, is it a good deal and is it really half price. Are good seats available and what time should you get there to get the best choice.

It's a good deal. Not all shows are half-price, the discounts vary. The seats can be anywhere...first row or last row. But not all shows have discounts everyday. On days when their are matinees and evening shows, you can only purchase matinees tickets in the morning and the evening shows in the afternoon onwards. If you want to be spontaneous use the Tkts booth, but if there is a particular play or musical you really want to see get the tickets in advance via a site like Ticketmaster UK. http://www.officiallondontheatre.co.uk/tkts/leicester_square/

the "half price booths" are worth a shot. There are usually a number of shows available. If you dont like what they have dont buy. I've bought seats within the front 5 and 10 rows

I've used the TKTS booth - do be careful, there are a number of "look-alike" operations nearby that are NOT the official booth and charge fees. I got a very good seat for Blithe Spirit the last time I was in London at TKTS. To buy ahead, don't bother with paying fees to Ticketmaster - book directly with the theater box office.

We got excellent seats for Billy Elliott at the half price booth - this was 3 years ago. It was really worth it.

One piece of advice..... Lines often form before the TKTS booth opens. If you're counting on a specific show on a specific date, be sure to get there early and get your place in the queue.

Similar to Matt's advice. Rather than have your heart set on a specific show and time, be flexible and choose based on the best options available when you're there. There are tons of great shows in London. If you need to see a specific one, you probably should reserve your ticket ahead.
