legoland-windsor? OK kids' outing? can I take hoppa from hotel?

hi, I am planing a trip to Europe. I might fly in a day early and stay at Heathrow hotel and take the kids to LEgoland. We are trying to combine some "cool" kids' stuff with "walking around looking at old buildings," as my 8 yr old would say (who loves Legos). Is this a good kids' outing? Or should I skip it (we have been to Disney--so how does it compare?) Also, if I stay at Heathrow MArriott, can I just get on the hoppa at the Marriott and will it go in the direction of LEgoland? thanks, Elaine

We first took our son to London when he was 9. He too loved Legos, but we skipped Leggoland. He fell in love with Windsor castle- the weapons and armor display.

I have taken my kids to Europe one at a time and I let each pick one amusement park day on their 3 week trip. My eldest son picked Legoland Windsor. He absolutely loved it. A favorite activity was the driving school. I took my youngest son to Legoland Denmark this summer and again, he loved it, and esp. the driving school. He was quite proud of his license with picture. They are great with the kids. If you son loves Legos, he will love Legoland. The rides are much tamer than disney and the models built of legos are impressive to anyone, I imagine. In Windsor, my eldest son also did a workshop that I signed him up for when we arrived. He built something and they competed while I had some alone time walking through the models or whatever. You take a train to Windsor, then catch a Legoland bus right outside of the station. As I recall, 6 years ago, we bought an all-inclusive ticket at the train station. It was an easy day trip.
