Leeds Castle and Sissinghurst

I wanted to visit (from London) both Leeds Castle and Sissinghurst. Is there a way to visit both without a car (I see how to visit Leeds, but not Sissinghurst). And if a car is required, where should one be hired (prefer not to drive out of London, where I'd be coming from.

Sissinghurst is 10 miles south of Leeds Castle so you could get a taxi from Leeds to Sissinghurst, then after you are finished at Sissinghurst you could go to (5 miles) Staplehurst train station to get a train back to London.

Given the nature of the area ie not much public transport, unmanned rural railway stations etc, I would rent a car for the day. Not done it myself, use our own car, but suspect that Maidstone would be the most convenient place to pick one up. Regular trains from London. Apart from the convenience you would be able to enjoy the pretty countryside at your leisure.

This site will get you a list of companies operating out of Maidstone (and elsewhere). Ask the hire company if they would meet you at the station and take you to their office if necessary.

Ashford would be another place to consider for a pick up.
