Is it reasonable/possible to go to Leeds Castle (get there when it opens) and also see Dover Castle by train from London in one day? Or would I miss to much of both trying to hurry.

I'd be doubtful about this, although I've never done it and so can't be sure.
The nearest station to Leeds Castle is Bearsted which is 3 miles away. There is a shuttle bus but it only runs hourly. The first is at 10.10 and the first return to the station is at 13.50.

My guess therefore is that, to make it possible, you would need to do a taxi both ways to the station.
Hope that helps.

I haven't been to Leeds, but Dover Castle is a nice day trip on its own or combined with Canterburry. Lots to see and in Dover, the castle, the cliffs, WWII things, etc. In the summer they often have special exhibits (falconry when we were there). I'd plan on a full day just for Dover or Dover and Canterburry.
