We have a 6 hour layover in London and want to do a quick tour to see the main sights. I've noticed some tour companies have layover tours that pick up and drop off at the airport. Any experience with these or companies you can recommend? Has anyone tried Londontaxitours.com?

6 hours isn't enough time to tour London. If your itching to get out of the airport your better off heading to Windsor. It borders the airport(Heathrow) and its easy to get to. It's main attraction is the castle located right in the middle of the city. But it will have to be a quick visit-no more than two hours before you head back to Heathrow. If your using Gatwick, don't bother it's too far out of the way to do any sightseeing.

And be sure to leave plenty of time to get back to the airport, get through security (which is quite strict in London) and to your gate. If your flight is delayed coming to London - not uncommon - you may not have time to get out of the airport at all.
Also remember that you are only permitted one carry on item because you are connecting through the UK.
