My husband and I will have 6 hours at Heathrow. We do not want to go into London, but would like to be able to get outside and walk. Any suggestions on a close park or trail that is easy to get to?
For sure Windsor, it's a 15 minute taxi ride, great area to walk around in. Great pubs where you can get something to eat.
Windsor is about a 20 minute taxi ride away.
Definitely Windsor, just be sure to allow enough time to check back in at Heathrow.
I agree -- Windsor. Look online for a local Windsor taxi company and take the number with you to call when you land at Heathrow -- much cheaper than the black cabs waiting at the airport. We left our luggage in the Left Luggage dept. but some of the Windsor taxi companies might hold them for you. You can walk through the town and across the river to Eton, get something to eat, etc. We did it last year with a 7 hour layover and rather than just a day spent wasted at the airport, it made for an "extra" day of our vacation.
Windsor it is. But, be back at Heathrow 2 hours before your flight. Really.
