We will soon be looking for a laundry facility in Cork, Cobh or the Wexford/Rosslare areas. We prefer to do our own laundry because of time constraints. Any suggestions?
We did not see places where you can do your own laundry in Ireland. We ended up taking a few clothes to a laundry where they do it for you. It is not cheap. On own last trip to Ireland we rented a self-catering cottage where the use of a coin operated washer and dryer was included, so we did our laundry there. Hand washing what we could worked best for most of our trip.

We found a place to stay in Dublin that offered washing machines so we didn't have to find laundry services. In London we did try to do some laundry ourselves and finally turned some in to have it done. I'm a very DIY person but after comparing the prices of self laundry and dry and having it done it was a better plan to have it done. For the difference in cost and having the time free to go do something fun while someone else did the laundry it was totally worth it. It's worth saying that Rick said it was better to have it done and I fought that, but ultimately he was right. Your time on vacation is so expensive and valuable that don't spend it doing laundry. And this comes from someone who spent most of day in Sorrento Italy doing laundry. My $.02,

We have always taken powdered soap for our laundry. We buy it at Macy's lingerie dept. It is called "Forever New". I regularly use it at home for delicate items too. It doesn't make too much suds either. I use it on all our clothes in warm or cold water. We usually wash our clothes every night that we we can, if we are in a hotel for at leat two nights. I also use folding foam hangers that I purchased from Magellan.com. They are a travel store in Santa Monica, and Santa Barbara, California.. I take along a couple of suede hangers with clips on them for our socks, etc. It works out all the time for us. When we do our clothes, especially our jeans, we roll the jeans in our bathroom towels before hanging up the clothes.
Thank you all for your comments. It's looking like we will have to be creative in Ireland and hope that we can find something in Normandy.
