I will have two late nights during my stay in London. One at the Medieval Banquet with a 9 minute walk to Tower Hill tube. The other at the Shakespeare Globe with a 15 minute walk to London Bridge Tube. I was assured that walking at night in London is safe but am still concerned as the path from the Globe to the tube looked windie with a lot of turns. I'm assuming there are a lot of people getting out of these performances at the same time. Is walking to the tube what most people do?
Yes, there will be a large number of people walking to the tube station after the performance. You will be fine.
Is there a best route to take from the Globe to the nearest tube?
Both locations are in prosperous touristed parts of town. The Globe is smack on the South Bank. You'll walk along the Thames -- worth doing by itself -- and then up some steps to get to the London Bridge Tube stop. (Note: it's a big station, Tube and rail both.) Depending on the time of year and the weather, I've seen lots of tourists hanging out on the South Bank till 10pm or so. And, yes, people will be walking to the Tube. Have a great trip.
Thanks for the information and encouragement.
You will be fine, I have walked back to the hotels many times after the theatre.
The Globe to London Bridge is perfectly safe after a performance - there will be lots and lots of people walking that way.
If you want the Underground don't make it too late. The last train tends to be one side or the other of Midnight. You can check on line or in each station.
The "late night" walk is not a problem. Been doing it for years. You feel perfectly safe
