My family will be flying into Heathrow from Venice late in the evening (around 23:00). I will be flying into Stansted around the same time. I'm not concerned about how I will get into London, but I'm not sure what my family's options are. I know customs and baggage claim take awhile entering the UK and so I have no idea what time it will be when they will actually get done. I have heard the Tube stops running at 12:30 and after looking at the National Express site it appears the buses stop running around 21:30 from Heathrow. Do they have any other options getting into London besides a cab?
Melissa, While I took a cab when I was in this situation a number of years ago I did so because flight changed and I felt a bit stuck. But there are other options. Did you look at the Heathrow site? http://www.heathrow-airport-guide.co.uk/taxi-transfer.html Pam
Melissa, go here -- http://www.heathrowairport.com/portal/site/heathrow/menuitem.e87da634aa88e3fba4b12871120103a0/ -- and click on "Taxis" for some info. If it was me, I'd just bite the bullet and advance book a private hire minicab. In my experience, the cost will probably be a bit less than a taxi.
Melissa, their best bet would probably be a pre-booked car service. There is a possibility that they may make the tube, but you may want to just play it safe and book the car service. I haven't used one recently so don't have a particular company to recommend. I'd suggest that you check on tripadvisor for recommendations.
