Late evening arrival at hostel

If all goes as currently planned, we should arrive at St. Pancras rail station at 9pm on a Wednesday. I don't know how long passport control/customs(?) will take, but it is likely we won't reach our hostel until 10:00 or 10:30pm. Is it necessary to notify the hostel of our late arrival? I'm a little paranoid about arriving so late in the evening.

Yes, taking Eurostar, but from Brussels. So passport control with the UK Border Agency will be done in Brussels prior to boarding?

Thanks for the info, that makes our lives much easier! And our arrival less ridiculously late -- if we stay at Journeys London Bridge as planned, it should only be about 30 minutes by tube, according to TFL's planner.

If it were me, I'd send an email to the hostel letting them know an approximate arrival time and they can make a note near your name.

While the front desk will likely have coverage late in the evening, most guests will have checked in much earlier than you. An email will clear up any confusion in the off-chance your hostel is running near full capacity and someone at the front desk thinks you are a no-show and decides to give your bunks away to a couple of last minute walk-ins. Better safe than sorry and having to try and find accommodation at another hostel late at night.

Keep a print out of the email you send to the hostel (and any response you might get back from the hostel) with you so you can show it to the front desk if there is any problem upon your arrival.
