Naively I waited until now to book accommodations - must be Chelsea Garden show because mid-week is the worst right now. We are arriving 5/21 and would like to stay until the 27 when we'll fly to Dublin for 5 days before returning. At this point I am considering reversing the order of the trip which means I miss the garden show. Any ideas?
It is also a bank holiday weekend, but even so you should be able to find something. London has plenty of hotels. Did you have a particular budget in mind or a particular neighborhood that you wanted to stay in? You might try looking at one of the chain hotel websites. In particular, Premier Inn is reliable. Also, just try one of the general booking sites like booking.com. They will let you filter by price, neighborhood, etc. Once you narrow it down you can check reviews.
Mary I stayed at Base2stay Kensington and loved it and on same street just a block down was a Premier Inn, I would try that too. Its a great area.
Also I would look at a booking site, normally I book direct but I have used Expedia and Booking.com successfully.
Mary - Give Falcon Hotel a try. They are located near Paddington Station.
Airbnb is a good option to try.
I just searched for availability at the Gloucester Place Marble Arch Hotel (55 Gloucester Place), which is very conveniently located by the Baker Street tube stop, in Marylebone, and they have rooms during your dates. We stayed there this year and last, and it's a nice, clean, convenient, reasonably-priced hotel. Now, that is just one search of one hotel, and it might not be what/where you'd prefer, but it does seem to indicate that panic is not warranted yet! :-) You should find something no problem. Lots of great suggestions here. And London is nothing if not STUFFED with hotel options! Good luck!
