Lake to Peak District, UK

Can anyone give me some suggestions of things to see or do on the way from the Lake District to the Peak District. We will spend 2 nights in the Peak District and besides Chatsworth House, what are your best suggestions for walks, sites, food, etc once we are there. We are staying near Bakewell. Thank you!

walks- Dovedale. fantastic walk along a river./stream Drive around the moors; villages are very interesting, Crick tram museum, a few preserved cotton mills can be toured (usually combined with related shopping facilities in same building. Food: very good food in restaurants, hotels and pubs- what you can find all over England. local specialties I can think of are "Bakewell tarts' and similar in other towns bakewll is also an interesting town renowned country hotel and restaurant: The Peacock at Rowsley (very near Chatsworth and Bakewell as i recall). Great experience- probably have to reserve ahead. We focused our entire schedule around a few nights at this hotel

We loved the Peak District! I don't understand why Rick doesn't cover it in his UK book, but I guess he can't cover everything. We stayed a B&B in Eyam, and it was a favorite. Definitely go to Stanage edge and stand on the ledge where Elizabeth Bennet in Pride and Prejudice...the movie version...stood looking out over Hope Valley. That is one of our favorite pictures from our European trip last year. We also ate dinner at a restaurant up there but I don't remember the name of it. I'll see if I can find it and post it back here for you. Visit Bakewell, tour market in the morning. Visit the little town of Eyam and learn their story of the sacrifice the whole town made during the plague of 1665. There is even a plague museum (tiny) that for 2 pounds you can learn the story of the village. The village is like a step back in time. There is also a pub there. The village church is interesting, too, where the local priest led the town in quarantining themselves to prevent the spread of the plague. The cemetery outside of the church has an old celtic cross that predates the plague, predates everything, really. Anyway, we loved the whole area. Enjoy!

The name of the pub/restaurant we went to at the top of Stanage Edge was the Barrel Inn. (And technically, I think the section of Stanage Edge that we were on was Froggat Edge. It's all part of the same geological ridge). Also, you mentioned Chatsworth House...there is a farm store you can stop at on your way out that has wonderful cheeses, fruits, meat pies, etc. We bought several items there and had a picnic. Very fun!
