Hampton Court. I was very disappointed with the Kensington Palace tour.

Another vote for Hampton Court . Also consider watching the brilliant 1966 film " A Man for All Seasons " starring the great English stage actor Paul Scofield . With a supporting cast of splendid , legendary actors , the story of Sir Thomas More and his differences with Henry VIII over the King's divorce and marriage to Anne Boleyn .

You can take a boat to Hampton Court and the Train back or vice versa depending on your schedule and the tide.

Just in case the others weren't convincing enough, Hampton Court Palace is much, much better.

I haven't been to Hampton Court. Kensington is mostly a museum with fashions and not very well done at that. There are plans to upgrade the museum but I don't think those have been realized. So honestly the only reason to see Kensington is if you are REALLY into fashion or if you are REALLY into Lady Diana, who lived at Kensington before her death. But I'm not sure that the Diana connection is that well played out in the tour anyway.

Hampton, by far...although I enjoyed the Victoria tie-in at Kensington Palace.

As others have said, Kensington Palace is a complete bummer. Hampton Court, on the other hand, is fascinating. Also, Hampton Court encompasses several time periods, Henry VIII and William and Mary.

Thank you all for your quick responses. Hampton Court it is. I was leaning that way but then influenced by the triangle ratings in R S book.

I agree with your decision to go to Hampton Court if you are choosing between the two. However, for the sake of anyone else reading this who might be deciding whether or not to view Kensington Palace at all, I'll say that I have enjoyed it each time I have been there much more than many of the previous posters apparently did. I think it is lovely. If you are interested in the Victorian era, it is interesting to see where Queen Victoria grew up. And you can get a nice cup of tea at the Orangery.
