Itinerary tweaked. Does it look OK?

I've played with my itinerary a lot and have come up with something close to a finished product. I'm trying to balance lots of sights without ridiculous moving. Please take a look and let me know what you think: http://www.lovemusicinc.com/Latest (cut/paste address in your browser please- it's a PDF file). Thanks! -DrToonz

The file is a PDF. I've been told it's a bit small, but if you change the zoom a bit, it's easy to read. Thank you!

Your one day on the Dingle peninsula should be filled with trying to squeeze in a lot of great Dingle stuff into one short day. Don't even consider trying to do the Kissane sheep farm that day. Kissane makes much more sense on the day you are driving to Kenmare. The trip to Skellig Michael can be most of one day and anyone doing this would need to leave early to make the drive to Portmagee to catch the boat. Also you should make reservations with a boat driver a head of time. Trips to Skellig Michael only happen if the weather cooperates. They can usually predict a day or so out what the conditions might be.

Thank you Janet. I'll look into switching it up a bit for Kissane. I know the Skellig is hit or miss for weather. i don't know if any of the other personnel on this trip really care, but to me that's one place I'd really like to hit! I'd get up before dawn to get there and make it happen. Thanks for the input! ~DrToonz.

Cut & Paste?
Is the problem that I have not put the itinerary in here in text format? It's just so easy for me to post as a .pdf. Would it be that much easier if I were to retype it from my original format to text for the sake of this forum?

Doc: we appreciate the offer, but you probably don't want to do that to yourself. What I mean is, this site is very non-user friendly when it comes to inputting anything with many line breaks, not to mention table formatting.

I found your PDF easy to access. (Unfortunately, I don't know Ireland well enough to answer your question.)

Quick thoughts:
Music usually starts in the pubs around 9-9:30 (Some start earlier on Sundays); in small towns music usually ends around 11 PM, but lots of city pubs have late hours.

Parts of Dublin Castle are not accessible and/or have limited hours on Sundays.

Guinness Storehouse does not have actual "brewery" tours, they do have an unbelievable amount of memorabilia with the Guinness logo, but much of it can be bought at most Irish gift shops. Guinness is 1 of the most popular destinations in Dublin and in July there will very likely be long lines.

Rather than hiking up-hill to the Cliffs of Moher from Doolin you may want to do the reverse. Bus Eirann (public bus) comes through Doolin numerous times every day; takes about 1/2 hour to the Cliffs then about 2 hours to walk back to Doolin. The cliffs visitor centre is free; parking is not. Gus O'Connor's pub in Doolin has fabulous fish; they also have a wall of American dollar bills that have been autographed and left by visitors who want the world to know "we were here" (probably a federal offense, but I wish I'd had 1 with me;-)

Wait & see the sheep dog demo when you visit Killarney.

Dingle deserves at least 1 full day, you may want to cut 1 of your Paris days for 1 more in Dingle.

Your side notes mention Cobh (which we loved), you could cut a Paris day and visit Blarney on Mon (8/2) on the way to Cobh, and move Cashel to Tuesday, etc.

Your "drive times" are very conservative, I think you'll find journeys take longer (especially the 3 hr Doolin to Dingle journey as you may have to wait for the ferry across the Shannon)

Also, you are visiting many very popular destinations in high-season, so be prepared for waiting in some lines.

Lastly, some of you will be driving/touring for 3 solid weeks, you might try to "schedule" some down time.

Hope this helps; enjoy your journey!

With the disclaimer that 1) I didn't drive in Ireland and 2) I didn't do the Ring of Kerry, I'd suggest you pick driving around either the ROK or the Dingle Peninsula, but not both. I loved Dingle, it was one of the best parts of my trip, so I'm biased. Plus, if you're fitting in the sheep farm, you'll not want to spend the major part of two full days driving in a circle (that wasn't meant to be sarcastic).

I know the ferry to the Aran Islands gets very full in the high season, so plan accordingly, or get there early.

PS, sounds like fun!
