Itinerary Help in Northern Ireland

From 9/27 to 10/6, we'll have been in Dublin, Kilkenny, Dingle, Aran Isl., and Cong. We'll have 4 more days! So I planned for us to drive to Westport, get on N59, see Carrowmore, spend the night in Sligo, then what? Donegal Town and Slieve League, spend the night in Derry, get up and head to Portstewart and see Giant's Causeway, spend night, head back to Dublin on the 10th. We fly out of Dublin early next morning. Sound okay? Other options??

You really need to work Belfast in there somewhere. I'd rank it above most of what you have listed.

I agree about Belfast, but there's also another gem up near Gian's Causway- if you can get to Castlerock and spend some time at the beach, I assure you you wont regret it. I believe it's the longest beach in Ireland and it's pretty deserted for the most part. If you're going the Hostel route, the best one I have ever stayed at is the "Downhill Hostel" right on the beach. Have fun!

I'm wondering exactly what about Belfast? I've heard of the murals regarding the 'Troubles' and the black cabs...what else? I've not heard of that beach! I'll check it out. Thank-you so much.

I would use the Ken Harper tour for seeing the neighborhoods in Belfast[INVALID]best 90 minutes I spent!

Belfast is a great city, but if you already have plans to spend a night in Derry and you appreciate the coastline more than the city, then save Belfast for another trip because it deserves at least a few days. I've spent extended time in both Belfast and Derry. Yes, Belfast has the Black Cab tours, but Derry is small enough to do a walking tour on your own of their murals and then go to the Museum of Free Derry which is amazing. John Kelly, the brother of Michael Kelly who was shot dead on Bloody Sunday helped start up the Museum and listening to his 1st person account of that day and of the Troubles throughout Derry and the North was incredible. The coastline and the Causeway are gorgeous and if you head over that way, Dunluce Castle is totally worth a stop. If you do decide to go to Belfast, for sure you need to see the murals, the Botanic Gardens are fantastic, Queen's University, City Hall, Stormont and sipping a pint in a snug at the Crown are also good places to visit.
