We are flying in to dublin and want to see Waterford area. And then to Portrush area (Antrim Coast) and back to Dublin before flying back home. We are planning 10 full days for this itinerary and renting a car. Please advise. Thank You.
Joe one piece of advice, don't pick up your rental car until you are ready to head out of Dublin. On your way south to Waterford take in Glendalough and the Wicklow mountains. From Waterford you could head to the West Coast and make your way north to the Antrim Coast. Our learned forumers will give you great advice on how to tackle this part of the journey. We did a similar trip on 2010, but had 14 days.
We had two nights in Dingle, two nights in Cong, one night in Donegal. We stayed in a B & B near Ballycastle on the Antrim Coast for 3 nights.
Hi, Joe Not sure what you're looking for but when we were in Ireland a few years ago, Northern Ireland was one of my favorite parts of the trip. I found Belfast fascinating and spent a lot of time walking around N. Belfast looking at nurals and memorials. The hop on/hop off busses are a good way to get an overview. North of Belfast, but not very far, is a small coastal town called Cushendahl. On a clear day, you can see Scotland from the shore. We parked our car at the B & B and didn't get back in until we checked out. Easy to navigate on foot. Lots of scenic walks, a good pub, a few really good restaurants, some old cemeteries, a nice craft shop, tourist info and reasonably priced B & B's. One of my very favorite small towns. Don't miss the sites along the Antrim Coast. It rained on the day we went to Giants Causeway and we had it to ourselves. It was awesome. I am sorry we didn't get to Londonderry. Good luck to you.
