Itenerary Ireland Too Much?

This is our first real draft of a 13 night trip to the south of Ireland, and I am not sure if it is too ambitious or not. 1 Arrive Dublin, stay in Kilkenny 2 Kilkenny 3Kinsale 4Kinsale 5 Kenmare 6 Kenmare 7 Dingle 8 Dingle 9 Aran islands 10 Roundstone 11 Roundstone 12 North Dublin 13 north Dublin Fly home. Is this too much, and if so where to cut, or condense. Please advise of what I might be doubling up on, or missing. Thanks for all the help!!

I don't think this is too much. The only problem I see is day 9 I don't think there is enough time to get from Dingle to the Aran Islands and have any time to see anything. However, I guess if you are planning to spend the night on the island that would give you the next day. I don't know anything about Roundstone or even where it is, so I can't comment on that. The only other thing I'll say is that I might stay somewhere closer to Dublin on the first night to avoid having to drive with jet lag, but you may do fine. I didn't think Kilkenny was necessarily worth two nights.

Roundstone is in Co. Galway, out toward Clifden (which I like better). I can't imagine why you would want to spend two nights there. The Aran Islands trip could be iffy, too, depending on what time of year you plan to travel. Ferries often get cancelled due to rough water or bad weather, and you could find yourself unable to go on the appointed day, or stranded there until things calm down. Ferries from Doolin seem to be most prone to cancellation. Other than that, your plans look OK. Drop your car at the airport before exploring Dublin - you won't want or need a car in the city. (And you might want to delete your duplicate post so you get all of your answers in one place.)

Thanks so much,
If the drive from Dingle to the Aran islands is to much for one day, where would be the best place to split the drive? Maybe Doolin, or somewhere around the Burren? Thanks again

Hello Jeff,
We have been to Ireland several times and are going again this spring.......I would suggest you drive from Dingle to Clifden on day 9. It's about 200 miles - stop for a late lunch in Galway which is about 150 miles from Dingle. Spend nights 9-10-11 in Clifden or that area......On the day with the better weather, take the ferry to Inishmore, the largest island. Dun Aengus is there and a group of ruined churches. Drivers with small vans meet the ferry and will take you on a tour. The ferry link is below. http://www.aranislandferries.com/

The drive from Dingle to Doolin or Galway (where you can get ferries to the Aran Islands) is not too far for one day. It just doesn't leave much time to get a ferry and have time to see a lot of the islands. If the weather is bad and you can't get a ferry, or if you decide to skip the Aran Islands, you could tour the Burren, which is a really interesting area. We stayed in Ballyvaughan, but Doolin (and other places) would work as well. We stayed in Clifden in order to see Connemara. We liked the town and the area very much.

On your way to Dingle, I would recommend swinging by Killarney & the Muckross House & Killarney National Park. You HAVE to drive through Connor Pass when you leave Dingle - it is awesome. I leave Dingle early one morning - spent 3 hours in Limerick/Shannon and drove on to Doolin - arrived @ 5 p.m. Then went back to the Cliffs of Mohrer for an incredible sunset. Have a great time! I wish I had had 13 days!

You might want to consider flying out to the Inis Mor. It costs about 90 E but takes 7 minutes, and gives a nice view of the Islands on the way out. We were driving from Galway to Donegal and time was important, so flying seemed like a good deal to us.
