We will be in Ireland for 2 weeks, flying into Dublin. We are planning on renting a car after leaving Dublin and heading toward the southwest area. I have heard some of the roads are not so good for driving, like the area of the Ring of Kerry and would perhaps be better off with a partial tour in the areas where the roads are narrow. Does anyone have suggestions for a partial tour. We are mainly interested in seeing the scenic beauty of the area.

There are lots and lots of good companies. You could check with CIE Tours or Sceptre Tours, or ask at the Tourist Information desk at the airport when you arrive. There are tours of varying lengths (not sure how long you consider a "partial tour" to be), so you should be able to find something that would suit you. Once you get there and drive a bit you'll have a better feel for what the roads are like. Perhaps you'll be comfortable enough to go on your own.
