Is it practical to do a day trip to Blenheim from Stratford?

I'm juggling a bunch of pieces for our month-long visit to England this summer. We have some restraints, incl staying with great friends for a fixed interval. Before and after, I'm trying to fit in a weekend in Stratford (hotels seem to require us to book Friday and Saturday), day trips to places like Blenheim (which we could do from London), etc. I'd like to know how practical it might be to do a day trip to Blenheim while we're staying in Stratford in particular. I realize the best way to visit Blenheim without a car (please don't tell me to rent one; that's simply not an option, and it's not important why) is to get to Oxford and take the S3 bus from there. Does something else make more sense than that? Thx in advance. Tom

I won't get involved in the travel which you seem to have handled, but I will say that not all hotels require a 2 night stay. There is a Holiday Inn right in the Centre of Stratford upon Avon, just over the road from the visitor centre and multistory car park, just over the Avon from most of the shops and on the river which has availability for Friday night in the middle of July one night 2 people for £109 no brekkie, £116 including brekkie on unchangeable advance purchase.

Thanks, Keith; thanks Nigel I've reworked my tentative pattern for when we go where, and I've got it all worked out. I appreciate knowing there are still some more options to consider. In all likelihood, we'll probably work in the Blenheim visit as a day trip by train and bus from London, not Stratford (and yes, I did mean ---on Avon!) Tom
