We are exchanging homes for three weeks in August with a family in Suffolk. We are also exchanging cars. Their car in Suffolk does not have a GPS. Both of our cars in California have built-in GPSs. So we have no need for a GPS when we get home. Is it possible to rent a GPS in England for three weeks?
It would be cheaper to buy one and sell it on eBay when you come back.
Renting is more expensive than buying for more than 3 days. Buy an entry-level unit, or an offline-app for your smartphone (it will work without using any data roaming)
I found one UK website offering sat nav (GPS) rentals: http://satnav-hire.co.uk/ There may be more. Looks like you can rent one for the UK for 21 days for about 45 GBP. It's another US English vs. UK English thing: We say "GPS," they say "sat nav." And, we say "rent" while they most often say "hire." That info could help your Google searches for this.
Buy a used one on Ebay with the EU maps; sell it when you get home.
Wow! Great ideas! Thanks.
