is Edinburgh's George Hotel an easy walkable distance from Waverly Station? I'll be dragging a rollerboard. A few minutes on level terrain is fine. Otherwise, it's a cab for me.
It's an eight minute walk, mostly flat except for the steep stairs/escalators from the station up to the bridge: http://tinyurl.com/2526own
Thanks, Michael. I never noticed Google Maps can give you elevations. I was, actually, more interested in this: "This route may be missing sidewalks or pedestrian paths." Think I'll spring for a cab.
You may be able to street view the walk... I did that from where I stayed in Edinburgh to the castle, since I was going to the late night Tattoo.
Your biggest "up" will be out of the station to Prince's Street. There's a little bit of an up to George St. You should be fine. BTW I had a great dinner in the restaurant - Tempus. Pam
No problem!
Actually, we just returned from Edinburgh and a very pleasant stay at The George Hotel. Yes, it is an easy walk from Waverly and you do not have to climb stairs out of the station. Simply go up the exit ramp on either side with your roller case. It is then approximately a 5-10 minute walk to your right. A cab would probably only be about 5-7 pounds, so it may be worth it to you.
