We love Paris and are going for 3 to 4 days this summer, for a second time. We need to transit through Dublin on the way home and are debating wether to spend 2 nights there or stay the extra time in Paris. Is a day in Dublin worth losing a day in Paris?
Very few cities in the world are worth sacrificing that extra day in Paris. Dublin is a very nice city with plenty of things to do, but a lot of its charm comes from the slap on the back, have another beer atmosphere. I would not sacrifice time in Paris for Dublin as you describe, but would definately put Dublin on your list of places that you must visit. Cheers!
I absolutely would not cut Paris short for Dublin. The time you plan to spend in Paris is not a very long time. However, I am not a big fan of Dublin--expensive hotels and lots of people--two times there was plenty for me--don't plan to return on my next Ireland trip.
I would much rather be in Paris than Dublin!--I would take the extra time in Paris.
No. I've never been to Paris, but, in my opinion, I would skip spending time in Dublin. My sisters and I spent a long weekend there last June and we were bored out of our skulls. It's also overpriced. I would save Dublin as a stop on a trip to Ireland or the UK, but it's not worth sacrificing time in another place.
Dublin is a nice place but spend the extra time in Paris!
But the question is, have you been to Dublin? Do you actually want to visit the city instead of the airport? Do you care if you see the city on "sprint" mode? If you'd prefer a visit that gives you more time and less rush, then skip Dublin. That said, I made the choice to visit Amsterdam for 36 hours on my way home from my first visit to Ireland, in the "while I'm there I might as well visit" category.

Have you been to DUB? You say this will be your second time to PAR but what about DUB? It's worth seeing, too, if you haven't already. But if you have, and you say you love PAR, then I think your question is answered!
No.
Emphatically, yes!
Since you have been to Paris before. Adding a day in Dublin would give you the opportunity to add a new experience.
I liked Dublin but would hate to visit without spending some time in small town Ireland. In your case, I would take advantage of a day in Dublin but plan another trip when you can fully experience Ireland.
Hmmmm that would be a hard call. I love both Dublin and Paris. I think I would choose spending the extra time in Paris. One, because there's just so much in Paris and two, because I think Dublin's charm comes out more if you have time to take your time and just be there... if that makes any sense. However, if you're looking to enjoy that "slap on the back, have another beer atmosphere" as Larry called it, for an evening after a day of sightseeing, Dublin's a great place for it.
If you have been to Paris TWENTY times, it is still a far better place than Dublin
I don't think Paris is better than Dublin but it offers a lot that is different to Dublin. I agree that Dublin might take time and a willingness to discover it's charm. But boring it is not. Having said that, I vote for Paris too. Dublin deserves a proper amount of time...maybe your next trip?
No, go to an Irish bar at home for "slap on the back and have a beer" time . lol
Paris definitely deserves more then the 3 or 4 days you've alloted to it, but then I love the food, the history , the museums, the cheese , the wine, the bridges, the Chateaus, the cafe culture,,Versailles, the food, oh I said food, oh well, you get what I mean, if you don't love all those things then you wouldn't be as biased as I admit I am.
