My wife and I will be spending 3 days in Limerick. Can anyone recommend a pub/night club that has traditional irish dancing?

I went to two pubs in Limerick. Neither had dancing. I've never actually seen Irish dancing in a pub; it's usually a performance, either in a theater or touristy type show with professional dancers, or a community festival with local dancers. You should be able to find some traditional music (normally called a trad session or just session) at pubs. It's a group of local amateur musicians who come together and play. I found the first place in Limerick by looking for little posts announcing a traditional session, the posts are usually pinned up around town and tell you where and when. I can't recall the name of that pub. After the session was over, I asked if there might be other music aruond. The bartender pointed me in a general direction and I stopped at a pub (I think it was called the Lone Star) that had two folk musicians and a packed house singing along. It turned out to be an IRA pub, an interesting and worthwhile stop.
Irish dancing is usually a performance unless it's a competition. That said I'd search on line for Irish Dancing schools in Limerick and contact them with your travel dates. They'd certainly know where and if performances were being held. Amazing research tool the internet.
