Ireland vacation advise needed

My girlfriend and I will be traveling to Ireland end of April/beginning of May. We have 8 days, flying into Shannon and out of Dublin. We are doing a driving tour but have no idea what cities to stay in each night or what are "must sees." Please advise! Thank you.

Jared, go to your local library or large bookstore and look at the guidebooks. We can help you tweak an intinerary once you have an idea of what you want to see, but we can't do it for you.

I have been to Ireland 7 times and the best things to see are the people, scenery, and ruins. For natural beauty see the Cliffs of Moher, Giants Causeway, and Wicklow Mountains, Burren, and Connemara. For history and ruins don't miss Glendalough (in Wicklow Mts) Powerscourt for gardens, Cobh for a unique town, Killarney if you want to go someplace overcrowded, but the Torque waterfall and Ring of Kerry drive near there are great. To really talk to people don't go where all the tourists go. Talk with clerks and the old people sitting on park benches and mothers strolling with babies. Go into a pub for lunch and talk to the locals--it makes their day!! And the Rock of Cashel-in Cashel is great and I recommend the Cashel Farm Hostel which is right under the hill and is clean and they have private rooms. Ask the owner how to drive through "the Vee". He told us and it was a great drive. Any coast roads are great. Don't be afraid to travel in the North. It is beautiful there and the Mount Stewart Estate and Gardens are fantastic--iln county Down. Hope this helps. Nancy
