My husband's dream is to golf Ireland & mine is to see the quaint towns. Any "got to play" courses and suggestions on quaint places to stay? We have to go July/August, hopefully for 2 weeks.
Lahinch. In addition to the course, it is also a cute little town on the coast. And the same could be said for Waterville.
Pam - Here is a web site that may help you out. http://www.golf.uk.net/
I'll second golfing Lahinch. You can stay in Doolin - a great spot just 15 minutes or so from Lahinch, and 10 minutes from the Clff of Moher. Doolin is small, but has a couple of great pubs for trad music. Other places (Lisdoonvarna, Ennis, etc) are easily accessible.
Your husband should take with him a card from the course he plays on here that states his handicap. Some courses require that to play on their course.
I played there in Sept. 2007 and it was about 70 and Sunny. Cliffs of Moher not too far away...just spectacular. A buddy and me were staying over in Galway and drove down...took maybe 90 minutes.
I wasn't asked for a handicap card at Lahinch. But there are quite a few great courses near scenic towns there.
http://www.irishgolfcourses.co.uk/index.html I looked up places here too...
http://acoursecalledireland.blogspot.com/ this is written by a guy who walked to courses all over Ireland. He has a book that came out this year. It may have some helpful things in it too.
My husband and I did the very trip your our asking in 2004.
