Ireland longer stays

I am looking for 2 or 3 great places to stay to use as bases for driving around Ireland. Family trip: mom, dad and 2 adult children. Preferably with kitchen facilities but that's not a deal-breaker. Planning on 5 days in each place. 1st area: Carlow/Kilkenny/Cashel/Waterford. 2nd area: Mallow/Kilarney/Kenmare. 3rd area: Glaway and surrounding areas. Would greatly appreciate any input! B&B, self-catering, guesthouse, hotel, castle, farmhouse...I'm open to suggestions. Thank you! Cindie

I'd definitely recommend self-catering, but depending on what time of year you're going, you may have to rent for a whole week. But having more space plus a kitchen and laundry facilities when you're staying in one place is a definite bonus. You can also do a google search by typing in "self catering (name of county" to come up with more options. We found a great 3br cottage in Doolin for 400 euro/week that way.
