Itinerary question before booking...the plan is to fly into Shannon, go to Doolin for the first 2 nights. We are considering Dingle for the next 2 nights, then Kilkenny for 2 nights, ending in Dublin for another 2 nights (flying out of Dublin). Quick question...while I wanted to spend at least 2 nights everywhere, I was thinking of staying only one night in Dingle and then another on the way to Kilkenny...we were thinking about stopping at the Midleton distillery so I want to give us enough time to do the drive and make any other stops along the way. Thoughts? Thanks in advance...
No don't take a night off Dingle. You would regret that decision. I think Dingle will prove to be your favorite place in Ireland. Many of us think this way. By the time you actually get to Dingle most of that day will be gone. -- then that leaves another full day to cram a lot in. I certainly would not gyp Dingle to go to Midleton Distillery.
Since you'll most likely arrive in the morning, you'll have most of your first day to see things around Shannon and Doolin, including the Cliffs of Moher. If you stay one night in Doolin you could drive through the Burren, then head down to Dingle via the Killimer-Tarbert car ferry. Then you could still have two nights in Dingle.
Definitely 2 nights in Dingle...my fav place in Ireland!
I just returned from Ireland. Definately spend 2 nights in Dingle. The Dingle Peninsula is a spectacular drive.
Thank you for the advice...looks like we'll stick with our 2 nights in Dingle. Booked our airfare and car last night...can't wait until September.
