We will be traveling in Ireland the first 2 weeks in September - Dublin to Shannon. Wondering what to take for clothing and shoes for myself and husband.
Linda, you could pretty much plan on the same weather there as you have at home at that time. Just be prepared for rain (bring a hooded windbreaker) and bring things you can layer. It will not be hot. The rain is seldom a downpour, more like drizzle.
Layers, layers, layers. You should be happy with jeans, t-shirts, a zip-up sweater, rain jacket w hood, and waterproof hiking shoes (like merrells) for your daytime adventures.
I would not recommend jeans - they are hell if it rains. (I speak from experience.) I'd bring pants that dry fairly quickly, a waterproof jacket or coat with an adjustable hood that will stay on if it's windy, and waterproof walking shoes. A fleece or sweater is also advisable in case it's on the cool side, which is certainly possible.
