How much cash should I carry for a 10 day trip and do most places accept credit cards?

Depends on where you will be. Stores in tourist areas will accept credit cards. Some B&Bs do, some do not. In smaller towns it's less likely to find credit cards accepted. As for how much cash you need to carry, just get what you need from an ATM. You will find them most places.

We have used cards on trips but paid all those conversion fees. Last trip we negotiated hotels on the promise of paying cash. We got some currency here before we left, then just made a point to hit the ATM almost every day to keep the cash supply up. Just paid the one fee each day.

I usually get 200-300 euro out at a time. I'll carry the bulk of it in my moneybelt and keep about 50 euro in my bag. Make sure, though, if you're heading to a tiny town, that you do have cash for a couple of days on you. We have run across some towns that didn't have an ATM and we had to drive to another town to get cash. It's not a huge problem, usually the other town is only 10 minutes away, it's just a bit of an inconvenience.
