Ireland in a week

Booked a girls trip for Ireland in March during St.Patrick's Day week. We are staying in Limerick and we will have a car w/GPS, what are the best sights to see that will allow us to come back to LImerick each day? Any help is appreciated.

You could easily see the Cliffs of Moher, and drive through the Burren either on your way there or on your way back to Limerick. You could easily see the Rock of Cashel.

It would take an early start for it to be worth your while to see a bit of Killarney National Park. It would take an even earlier start to make it worth the effort to get to Dingle and take in some of the Slea Head Peninsula drive.

Why Limerick?? It is just a crowded, dirty city full of traffic - lots of traffic. Galway City would be a better choice, in my opinion, and you could still see the same things on day trips. From Galway you could see Lahinch, the Cliffs of Moher, and the Burren, or you could go north to check out the Connemara area. You don't say how old the "girls" are, but Galway is a college town and has lots of nice pubs. If you are committed to Limerick, though, you are still within easy reach of Bunratty Castle and Folk Park, Adare, and Doolin (music) in addition to the locations already listed.

Suzanne have you considered the Dingle Peninsula which many feel is one of the top sights in Ireland. You would need to stay there two nights in order to have an entire day to drive the Peninsula.

Suzanne,

I agree strongly with the previous comments: Limerick is consistently rated the least interesting/enjoyable city for travelers. There are plenty of small towns with nice B&B's in the Shannon area that would work well for your plans.

And a trip to Dingle would undoubtedly be the highlight of your trip. It's a fantastic small town with the best of Ireland in it (trad music, great seafood, friendly people, beautiful scenery).

There are some charming places to stay around ADARE .......Limerick is not all the interesting if you want the "ideal Irish charm"

.....and yes, the Dingle area is beautiful......

....Lisdoonvarna - known for a matchmaking fesitival... ( I think this is the name of the village....is intersting), the Cliffs of Moher (sp?) are quite a wonderful contrast from the

green lush Dingle area and the Ring of Kerry.

Ross Castle in Killarney National Park....

Portamagee -- Derryane is a scenic drive........... A beautiful little town --- Knightstown - lunch at the Sea Breeze Inn ...
