We are flying from NYC to Scotland for 5 days then onto Ireland - Mid September timeframe Fly from Edinburgh to Shannon pick up a car do the cliffs on way 2 nights Ballyvaughan ( tour Galway one day) 1 night Dingle - Do the Slea Head drive and continue to Kenmare - should we stay 2 nights and only one in Kenmare then skip the ROK?? 2 nights Kenmare ( Ring of Kerry Drive one day) 2 nights Kinsal 2 nights Killikanny 1 night Wicklow and then drive to Dublin for flight back.
Any and all input received with many thanks. Is this to much to do? Thanks!!
I would take one night from Kilkenny and stay two nights in Dingle. We visited last May. When you take the Slea
Head drive be sure to stop at the visitor center for the Blasket Islands. Enjoy!
I like your itinerary and think it works fine. However, I agree with Carol - drop one of the days from Kilkenny and add it to Dingle. If you can, take a ferry to Great Blasket Island. Have a great trip!
Thanks for your advice.. already changed to 2 nights in Dingle. Next question - if I do 1 night in Kilkanny then drive through the Glendalough area - is this to much for one day? should I stay in Wicklow or drive to a hotel at Dublin airport - our flight is at 10 30 am - so we would need be there by 7 30 and will also need to return our car. ( suggestions for last night most appreciative)
Any particular reason for going to Wicklow? If not I would spend one night in Killarney and the next day go on to Glendalough, maybe Powerscourt or Wicklow but don't spend the night there. Return the car to Dublin Airport and stay at a hotel near the airport that has a shuttle bus:Bewleys, Holiday Inn Express etc. At least for me it would be less stressful knowing I did not have to make the drive from Wicklow to the airport, return the car and then getting checked in for your flight.
