Does anyone have an estimate of how long it takes to drive from Kinsale to Portmagee?
Also how long would it take to drive from Galway back to Dublin? Is it a better value & use of time to take the train?

Julie, Go to www.aaroadwatch.ie and it will give you the drive times. I can tell you from experience that these times are the bare minimum. If it says three hours you should figure about 3 1/2. The train would be cheaper than renting a car. WWW.irishrail.ie will give you the train times from Galway to Dublin and also the cost.

I used www.viamichelin.co.uk/ (also does the rest of the world) and their times were right on if there are no major stops for accidents or rush hour (in London area) The average speed is 40 mph/60 kph but is slower the higher the road number. Michelin adjusts for that.
