Ireland during Easter

I recently realized that Easter falls during my trip to Ireland. I'm planning on being in Galway from Good Friday and taking off for the Cliffs of Moher / Doolin on Easter Sunday and then Connemara etc. Will anything be open this weekend (pubs etc) and what will traffic be like? Is traveling by car around a holiday as insane as it is in the states?

Thanks for you help!

I believe the Cliffs of Moher visitor center will be open. I think they are only closed on Christmas. The Cliffs, though, are south of Galway and Connemara is north/west. If you're landing in Shannon, why not start with the cliffs before heading to Galway?

Thanks for the reply, Nancy! I'll actually be flying into Dublin and taking a train to Galway. After a few days in Galway I'll pick up a rental, drive south for the cliffs and then(unfortunately) have to backtrack up past Galway for Connemara.

I will be in Dublin from April 1st-April 12th. I didn't realize my trip was during Easter at the time of booking. Everything I read online says the entire city will be shut down on Friday, I guess I'll just hope for some room service or get a few things at a store the day before. Luckily I fly out on easter Sunday, so I think the airport will be a bit less crowded. Any suggestions on what someone in Dublin is to do during good Friday?
