Hi! We're going to Ireland and renting a car in Shannon, and returning it in Dublin. We are spending our last night near the Dublin airport. I've been trying to figure out where we will need to return our Hertz car. Surely it's not the arrivals hall? If it's off-site someplace, I will choose lodging near there if there is anything decent. We plan to be there only long enough to sleep the night before we fly home, so I'm not picky about that. Anyone know where you return your rental cars? Thanks!

Where you return the car depends entirely on what company you rent from. A lot of the companies are off-site (though just outside the airport), and some are at the airport. Since you are renting from Hertz, you ahould be able to call Hertz here and find out where the drop-off point is in Dublin.

There are two drop offs for Hertz, one at Dublin airport compound (5 minutes walk from the terminals although they provide a shuttle bus to the terminals) One in Dublin city centre, there is aircoaches from city to the airport all hours. Staying in city centre is a better idea but depends on how early your flight is. Hertz should have told you where the drop off is on your reservation confirmation? Hope that helps

Thanks very much for your help! I rented the car through AutoEurope. It says to take it to the airport, but in my experience, most rental car places have drop-off locations off-site, and airport can mean many things. My main issue was to coordinate the location with my lodging if it was off-site, but it seems it is close enough so that is not an issue. Thanks again for the replies! cindy

I returned my rental car to the Terminal 1 location. It's a 2 - 3 minute walk to the terminal. When you drive in the main airport entrance, it is well signed for the rental car returns. There is a Clarion and Radisson on the airport property. If you go to www.dublinaiport.com, they have maps of the airport campus and both terminals.

We were in Ireland in October and returned our Hertz rental at the Hertz that was a few miles from the airport. We stayed at the Hilton(around $90) and had free shuttle from Hertz and again to airport for early departure. The Hilton is about 5 miles from ap. The restaurant there was good and across the street was a giant Tesco-fun for some last minute shopping. We had stayed at the Clarion on a previous trip and did not like it-very noisy.

Wow! This is such an amazing resource! Thank you all so much for responding. I actually got on Google maps and followed street view all the way into the Hertz rental car return place on Unknown Road near "Europcar Dublin North" between Swords Road and the M1. I have found a place called Evergreen Bed and Breakfast a little south of Malahide, which is east of the M1, and about 6 Km from the airport. All the reviews rave, and it's less expensive than the hotels. I'll just have to get up a bit earlier to make sure I have my car returned by 9am. Thanks again for all the great responses!
