My wife and I are traveling to the NW of Ireland for 7 days and are looking for great towns to visit. We are interested in great pubs, trad music, good dining, hill walks and quaint villages. We are using Westport and Donegal Town as our home bases. Any suggestions on places not to miss (towns, pubs, restaurants etc)?
Thanks for your help.
I had a really good dinner at Fitzgerald's in Bundoran. I also enjoyed watching the surfers there as well.
In Westport, don't miss Matt Molloy's pub. He's the flutist for the Chieftans. See here for the pub's website and upcoming shows Here. Live music every night. There's a great guy called Mick that does a warm up session (he's hilarious).
Try to spend some time in the lovely village of Cong.
A tour of the pottery in Belleek is interesting.
We also enjoyed the visit to the Belleek Pottery and also the woolen mill in Foxford.
