My husband and I are going to Ireland in a few weeks and we are planning our trip. We can't decide.... Ennis or Lisdoonvarna? Clonakilty or Kinsale? Any thoughts or experiences on these towns?
I'd choose Lahinch over either Lisdoonvarna or Ennis. No experience with either of the others, though, sorry.
My husband and I did a 2 week trip to Ireland not long ago. The whole country is beautiful, and the people are wonderful. We were in Kinsale for 1 night, and I have to say it is very "touristy". And it was the most expensive town we visited. There is a great fort there, Fort Charles. Its an incredibly interesting place to visit for adults or families with kids. Its well worth a couple of hours to visit, and make sure you take the guided tour. Have Fun!
I don't know about the other three, but I've been to Kinsale. It is a cute town and we stayed at a B&B with a wonderful family. I love history so the Charlse Fort was interesting and if you choose to go there, you might stop by Cove/Cobh (sp?). It has an nice museum about the massive migration of Irish to the US and other parts of the world during the potato famine. Also, it was the last port of call for the Titanic and a portion of the museum is about that. Have fun!
Thanks for the suggestions!
