Hello Everyone Many times to Europe but this will be the first to Ireland. This is the plan and I'm looking for comments and suggestions; Late March early April - to Dublin for a few days, rent a car and drive to Belfast with a stop at Royal County Down for golf. From Belfast to Northern Irleand for golf at Portrush. Return to Belfast area, return car and ferry to Scotland for golf at Kings Barn, close to Edinbergh. Edingburg to U.S.
We will be staying at the places I've mentioned for a couple of days to see the sights. Any thoughts about taking a train to Belfast and rent the car in Belfast instead? I've never seen anyone on a train with golf clubs. This trip is in early planning stages and I'm taking all suggestions. Thanks as always.
What do you want to do but hit golf balls? There some great sights between Dublin and Belfast that you can't see on a train. Are you just going to rent a car the same day you arrive in Belfast? If so, you wasted the cost of the train tickets because your car rental will probably be the same.
Late March seems a bit early in the year for any kind of good weather in Ireland. It's likely to be windy and wet. I hope you will have some plans for what to do if the weather doesn't permit playing golf. Like Ken, I don't understand why you would want to train to Belfast and rent a car there instead of just renting in Dublin. It's tough to tell from the info you have given us just how many days you will be in Ireland, but a week rental will be cheaper than a few days. So you are only planning on staying in Dublin, Belfast and Portrush in Ireland? How long is the whole trip? How long will you be in Edinburgh?
