Ireland + car rental + help and advice needed

Hi everyone!
Have made our flight reservations to Shannon from the US and now need to figure out the car rental.. Have been searching the web for good deals and am confused by all of the information. Aer Lingus website has Hertz Ireland that is all inclusive and included rental, CDW, Theft Protection, Location Service Charge, and Taxes. Mileage is "estimated" and not sure what that means... (and I would prefer not to make an international call to find out at this point).Anyone have any positive experiences with car rental, through what company, and what should I make sure that I have... I heard that the Super CDW should be a must given that we will be driving on the opposite side of the road... do US insurance companies cover personal liability

Absolutely the best place in Ireland I've ever found.

I rent cars pretty much all over the world and have had very few nonpostive experiences that were not of my own making. My ideas are different from most other folks who post here, however, so they should speak.

We have used Don Dooley dandooley.com over four times with no problems. If you have any questions, they have an office in NJ 800-331-9301. Be sure to take the insurance and the excess CDW.

If you use kayak.com, it will check autoeurope at the same time it does a bunch of others. Checking autoeurope alone is rather redundant.

When I've been looking to rent in Ireland, Irish Car Rental has had the best deals. No problem at all with service, automatic car was available when I wanted it.

We used e-car rentals Ireland this summer and got a great rate. They're a consolidator and the car was actually through Thrifty. We paid 150 euro for a 5-seater car for the week, including all taxes and basic CDW.

We used a 3rd company for the excess, the amount over the CDW that covers the deductible (usually 1100-1500 euro, depending on the car). It cost about a third of what the rental company charged. We went through dailyexcess.com. We did have to file a claim, so save ALL your paperwork, and it took about 6 weeks to get the money back.
