Ireland - Car Rental - End of October

We're planning on visitng Ireland at the end of October and will be renting a car. Anyone have a favorite website/rental agency they like to use? I checked out autoeurope and ebctravel per Rick Steves' book, but I read lots of negetive reviews online for these websites. I liked the pricing on these websites, but not confident with the negative reviews. Any help is appreciated!

On three of my four trips, when I was shopping for car rental the best deal I found was on Irish Car Rental. They have a US tollfree number for questions. You can always book something with whatever company you choose, then keep shopping for better deals. (There is usually no penalty for canceling a reservation, but check their policy before booking.) Keep in mind that every company is going to have negative reviews from someone.

On the whole island of Ireland you need to get the full CDW. It's sometimes called super-CDW. None of the credit card insurance applies. This frequently shows up as a surprise when picking up the car when someone thought they got a "good deal." This will often cause a bad review. I've used Budget in Ireland. Register at their website. They frequently send out "specials." No insurance covers tires.

Because the prices/deals change all the time, what we paid at some past time would not be relevant. The price you are seeing seems low to me, but it could be because of the time of year, the class of car, or lots of other things. If that is the price with super CDW, grab it. Then you can continue to shop for better deals until your trip if you want, and cancel the first one if you find something better.

I recently rented a car from Irish Car Rentals and would use/recommend them again. A piece of advice I have though is to make sure to bring a copy of the amount you pre-paid. They tried to charge us 200 Euro more than what we had agreed to rent the car for , but having a print out of the online reservation confirmation and what we had already paid for helped. Also, read the terms and conditions- there are a lot of extra little fees that you can't pay upfront but add up pretty quickly and can be a big surprise if you aren't expecting them (these are standard...but aren't always communicated very well when booking online.)

Thanks, everyone! Would any of you be willing to give an estimate of how much your rental car cost? We're looking at a week long rental and I'm coming up with a cost of approx. $360 US with the super-CDW. Is this right? We're figuring out our budget. Thanks again!
