We've just returned from 3 weeks in Italy where we rented an apartment in Vernazza to use as a home base and then made day trips and overnight trips without all of our luggage. Does anyone have a suggestion of a small town in Ireland to use as a base and an apartment or a room with a fridge and stove? Thanks in advance for the suggestions!
While it seems small on a map, it's not exactly an easy day trip to all points of Ireland from just one town.
Where is your primary interest in touring? The West, the East, the South, the North? How long are you going to be in Ireland (you may want to split your total time and base yourself in 2 different towns to tour different sections of the country). Give us a hint and we can make a better suggestion.
Ceidlah,
Thanks for your suggestions but our experience in Italy, having a home base to leave the bulk of our luggage and growing pile of souvenirs, worked so well that we want to repeat it in Ireland, if at all possible. We know this means leaving early in the morning and either spending the night away or returning very late. None of us have been to Ireland so what we're really asking is, "What is the best little town in all of Ireland?"
