Bus, mainly. The train system isn't as extensive in the west. EDIT: www.buseireann.ie has a journey planner that will help you figure out how to get from where to where.

It will be hard. We just got back from two weeks in south/west coast and did it by car. It is a bit dicey but I manged to navigate it all without a scratch on the car. We did take bus from Rosslare to Dublin and it was a real milk run. The train service is not good, but if you can figure out the bus system it is fairly extensive- but will take time. Tom

hi neighbor! we are going in july to south west area, however we have a rental car. there are trains and buses around ireland. I have been researching our trip since october. can you be more specific on the area and the amount of time you will be there? you should get rick's book on ireland and Europe through the back door.
