Ireland Advice

I am traveling to Ireland with my husband for around 10 days in October. Any must do's? Any suggestions on B&B's or car rentals? Specifics would be nice!

Christina, That question is almost impossible to answer with such limited information. Where would you like to go in Ireland and what are your interests? Your best source of information for planning sightseeing, B&B's, etc. would be the Ireland Guidebook. I'm not sure if it's available in your area, but if you have a Kindle, iPad or Laptop, you can possibly download the E-book version for a very reasonable cost. With the Laptop, you'd need to download the free Kindle Reader first. I assume you'll be starting in Dublin? I'd suggest at least two or three days there to begin with, as you'll be getting over jet lag. Happy travels!

Christina, we can't possibly suggest B&Bs unless we know what towns you want to visit. And as Ken said, we can't guess at what your interests are. My "must do's" might be completely different than yours. You say specifics would be nice - if you could give US some specifics, we could give you better answers. Keep in mind that if your ten days includes your arrival and departure day, you only have eight full days to work with.

Do you need any help just getting started on your plans? If so, these are some popular places to consider: Antrim Coast, Derry/Londonderry, Dublin, Wicklow Mountains area, County Cork, Kinsale, Cobh, Aran Islands, Dingle, County Galway, Connemara (in western Galway), Kinvara, Kenmare, Doolin, and Donegal. Let us know what places you're interested in and we'll get into specifics about what to see and do, and where to stay.

We are still planning out where in Ireland we want to go. When we get more specifics down I'll post again with better questions.

Get the Rick Steves Ireland Guidebook and skim it over. You won't need to read any of the stuff on restaurants or places to stay on a first pass. You can get a good idea of what's there to see and what interests you. I can assure you that you can have a busy 10 days and not see everything. October will also start to see shorter days and the weather will certainly be different than the Caymans.
