iPhone 5 nano-SIM card swap for Norway

I have an iPhone 5 with Verizon, and it is unlocked. That means I can swap out the nano-SIM card with one I purchase in Norway. My understanding is it will be much cheaper to buy a nano-SIM card in Norway than pay for Verizon's international data plan which is $25 for 100 MB. I want to be able to use the iPhone for texting, as a GPS, and to post to Facebook. Has anyone out there done the nano-SIM swap in Norway? Did it save money? Are the nano-SIM cards readily available in Norway?

Arlyce, Buying a Nano-SIM in Norway may not be the easiest solution. I believe non-residents have to be registered and have a local I.D. number. That may be as simple as just showing your Passport, but I'm not sure? Keep in mind also that menus will likely be in Norwegian, and you'll have to address the issue of topping-up as well. Another method would be to use a SIM from one of the travel phone firms such as Roam Simple, Call In Europe, Cellular Abroad, One Sim, Tru-Phone or Max Roam (although I'm not sure how many of those offer Nano-SIM's). With that method, you'd have a working phone as soon as you step off the plane, and most of them use post-paid billing (charged to a credit card), so no issues about topping-up. Happy travels!

If you want more information about Norwegian options, look at PrepaidGSM.net. Here's a link to their page of Norway providers (look at "prepaid offer" and "click here" to get details). http://www.prepaidgsm.net/en/norway.html Here's a link to their European forums (scroll down past specific countries to get the posts for Norway). Be aware that discussion here can get VERY technical, so don't be afraid to ask for clarification: http://www.prepaidgsm.net/forum/europe/
