Any suggestions for B&B's in or around Inverness & Oban?
We need 2 rooms but don't have to be right in town as we'll have a car. Thanks for your suggestions.

Karen,
I can't speak for Inverness, but my wife and I are big fans of Strumhor in Oban. The B+B is a couple of miles up the road right on the water. Olga and Tony were great hosts and Tony actually does Kayaking trips if that is your sort of thing.
The best part is they really think about the time you spend at the B+B. There is a large enclosed porch with amazing views is there for you to enjoy and if you choose to go back to your room there are modern and topical books and DVDs for you to enjoy.
Karen. We recently returned from the UK. We stayed in a lovely B & B in Inverness, right on the river Ness and within easy walking distance of the city centre. The property was Ness Bank House. Google it for contact information. Very hospitable and helpful owner. Fantastic breakfast too!!!
We liked the Glenburnie Hotel in Oban--had a nice large room overlooking the water. They have a nice breakfast and hotel is walking distance to restaurants and the ferries.
Karen, I was in Oban in June and stayed at the Kilchrennie House (sp?). We loved it. The location was good -- short walk outside town with views of the water. The owners were extremely friendly and helpful. And the breakfasts were excellent. There are lots of reviews of it on Trip Advisor if you want more opinions.
Thanks, everyone for your helpful suggestions. I'll be contacting these places for availability. There's no better recommendations than from those who've been there.

In may, following recommendations in Rick Steves' guide, I stayed at the Raniven Guest House in Oban and the Crown Guesthouse in Inverness. Hosts were VERY nice at both. They are centrally located -the Raniven has its own car park-Crown has a nice guest lounge- pleasant rooms (en suite)at both, moderate prices-I would return to either.
I stayed in the Summer Lee Bed and Breakfast in Inverness. It was a lovely place and Margaret, the woman who runs it, was very nice.
In Inverness, we stayed at Ardgarry B&B. Free parking. 10 minute walk to the river, to grocery store and to Laundrymat, 15 minutes to the pubs, etc. Wonderful people. Great breakfast. See: http://www.ardgarryguesthouse.co.uk/
