Internet Cafes not dying out in the UK

One person posted a question about internet cafes in London, this person was told they are dying out and would have a hard time finding one. According to our friend who is a solicitor in London said that a person can find a internet cafe to use. I just didn't want people to think that they wouldn't be able to find one. EasyInternet Cafes have six locations in London, to name a few Kings Road, Trafalgar Square, Kensington High. We have used the ones on Kensington High and Trafalgar Square a lot. You can get a list of other internet cafes from the internet. I hope that this information can help people.

I used one real close to Paddington Station last summer. It was a gift shop/internet cafe.

Bear in mind that UK public libraries offer free internet access. I work in libraries and every one I have worked in has offered some form of free access to visitors ranging from one 15 minute session a day to a guest pass for a week depending on the library's policies.

It's like any new enterprize - the good flourish the bad go to the wall.

There used to be a lot of internet cafes, most of them were rubbish. They didn't make it. The good ones are making money and they thrive.

There is also the rise of people bringing laptops on vacation and using free wi-fi areas, that has hit the poor quality internet cafes hard.

I guess that's a thing we'll never agree on. I'm off to Florida in three days time and the last thing in the world I would pack is a laptop. I would only use an internet cafe in an emergency and my cell phone is going to be switched off except for very specific times and days.

Some of us want to take home with us when we go to foriegn countries and some of us want to leave it all behaind.

Canada House in Trafalgar Square lets Canadians book time on their computers at no charge. You can read week-old Canadian newspapers while waiting for your turn (if they are all in use) or use the excellent bathroom facilities. Our tax dollars at work. Oh, and sometimes there is a small exhibit of Canadian art. It's a good place to arrange to meet someone away from the hustle & bustle outside.

Hi Laura, I'm glad you did your post. I knew that a person could go to the libraries, I should have mentioned it, glad you did. Thanks

I used one across the street from Victoria Station when we were there a couple of weeks ago.

We saw a lot of booths like phone booths that had 'internet' on them - which I suppose means if you have a smart phone and need high speed wireless you can get it. I don't know if that was free or not.

We stayed in an apartment and I could see quite a few wireless internet networks one of which I was able to connect to. But yes, there are tons of Internet cafes in London. I think someone also mentioned that Starbucks will give you 15 minutes of internet access with any drink purchase.
