Need a reasonable Indian restaurant in London (can be out a ways). Also Dublin. Also fish and chips.
Thank you in advance.
Frank There are a number of good restaurants in Drummond Street near Euston station in London. http://www.allinlondon.co.uk/tube-euston-square-restaurants.php We like Diwana Bhel Poori House but it is only vegetarian. Alan
Lots of folks rave about The Golden Hind, 73 Marylebone Lane, for fish 'n' chips. I just got back from London and actually had my best fish 'n' chips at Brogan's Irish Bar (1 Fulham Broadway) by Stamford Bridge, and my second-best at the Globe Pub (43-47 Marylebone Road, across the street from the Baker Street tube stop). I suspect if you are used to the wretched, grease-soaked mockery that is the typical American restaurant fish 'n' chips, pretty much anything in London will blow you away. One place that did NOT blow me away was Holmes (123 Baker Street). I think the oil was off. Nice guys... but I couldn't finish the chips, so what's the point?
James - hah! :-) I must confess I have never had their fish 'n' chips! Now I need to try them. Thanks for the tip!
We like Masala Zone in Soho for Good Indian food. Have been there several times and never disappointed. The decor is pleasant, the service cheerful, and the food very nice.
Another slightly more upmarket Indian restaurant in central London is Imli's in Wardour Street. Marsala Zone is a small chain: there are also branches in several other parts of London so check their website to see if there's one near where you're staying.
