In from Heathrow, 7 days - what Travel Card/Oyster?

Heathrow is zone 6. Most of the time, I"ll be in zone 1, I assume. If i get a 7 day travel card/Oyster card....and want to be able to travel before 9:30a.....what's the best combo? Just buy Heathrow inbound (to Kensington) and then a 7 day Oyster for zone 1? A 7 day Oyster for zones 1-6 is more expensive than I need, from what I can tell.

Cheers!

You can just get a Zone 1-2 Oyster Card, which will cover all your travels in London. From the airport you can get a ticket for 4 pounds each way.

"You can just get a Zone 1-2 Oyster Card"

There is no such thing as Zone 1-2 Oyster Card.
You can purchase an Oyster card which has a daily price cap depending on when/where you travel or you can purchase a 7 day Travelcard for zones 1/2, which happens to come on an Oyster card if you don't purchase from a railway station.

You're right Bob, I was thinking of the travel card, thanks for clarifying that. If you have a schedule and know what days you'll be visiting what attractions, you can get some good 2for1 deals with the paper travelcard. I decided the Oyster Card is the most conveinant for us and gives us the most freedom to choose what we see when while we're in London, and the 7-Day Oyster Card sounds like the way to go if you're in London 7 days.
