Anyone stay at the Reykjavik Hotel Centrum? If so, feedback? Grazie.
"Anyone stay at the Reykjavik Hotel Centrum?" YES! Stayed there for 2 nights last April and loved it loved it loved it! I would highly recommend it if you can get a reasonable price. At the time, it cost us somewhere around $150/nt or less. I've looked online since for various dates and the rack rates have come back at somewhere between $200 and $300. Incredible location, great architecture of the building. It's actually a marrying of two buildings (at least one is VERY historic - you'll love the museum below sidewalk level!) with a 3rd new element connecting the two, if I remember correctly. Lots of glass and low-profile steel in the connecting space, allowing good natural light to penetrate the common areas. Good quality restaurant on the ground floor. But if you like American hotel sizes, this is not for you. You might want to check the Hilton Reykjavik Nordica if that's what you're after (we stayed there 5 nights). It has all the American pleasantries, a bit of walk from the town center, and corporate character. I'd pick the Centrum over the Nordica or anything similar any day. If I were to go back to Reykjavik (which I most certainly hope to do), the Centrum would absolutely be the first place I'd check for accommodations. If I found a room there at a reasonable price I wouldn't even bother to search elsewhere.
