Will I be able to use my I-touch with the free available wi-fi in London, or do I need to buy some type of sim card to connect to the internet?
I was able to use mine in Paris. I don't know why it would be any different in London.
wi-fi is the same around the world. However you connect to the internet here is how you connect to it in London or anywhere else. sim cards are for cell phone service, not wi-fi.
Go to jwire.com to find free wi-fi spots while you are in London. You can actually map out spots before you get there to see where they are. Of course there are fee based hotspots as well, but why not use the free ones? :)

www.jiwire.com is the correct website.
Sherrie,
As the others have mentioned, you won't need a SIM card to use Wi-Fi in London (or anywhere else). A SIM card is only for cellular phones, such as the I-Phone. Wi-Fi accesses the internet via a short range wireless connection to a wired MoDem.
I've found that many lodgings in the U.K. provide Wi-Fi for guests these days. In other locations (such as Starbucks) access may be free with a small purchase or there may be a small charge (and a password).
Happy travels!
