The Abbey Hotel is a good choice and close to the station or The Parliament House Hotel is good too. I stayed at the Parliament House last year it was pretty reasonable for the area. When I got tired of Scotish food I went to the Italian restaurant on the corner called Ciao Roma it was really good.
